Scholarship for Master and Theology students

Are you a Master student or a Theology student planning to write your thesis within the next two years? Are you interested in gender and religion and want to be part of a stimulating international research team? Do you want to learn more about gender and religion in the Nordic countries and in the Baltic region?

We offer two scholarships to the amount of 40.000 NOK to students who wants to write their thesis connected to the research project Religion and Gender Equality - Baltic and Nordic Developments. The scholarships are taxable.

The topics are:

  1. Gender and sacred texts. In what ways do the discourse about gender and religion in Norway and/or the Nordic countries, employ the Bible or other sacred texts to legitimate or challenge gender practices?
  2. Religion and gender in Norwegian schoolbooks. In what ways do teaching material and learning tools construct gender, sexuality and religion?

In the application, the student will have to choose which of the two topics they will write about, and submit a project plan, including budget, reflections around material, theory and method (2 pages).

The successful candidates will be included in the project while writing their thesis, be invited to international conferences and workshops, and be offered supervisors from the project participants (Kartzow and Grung).

Application deadline: December 15th 2021
