Workshop #1: Defining the Overall Conceptual Frame

April 8-11 2013, the REDO group of 13 researchers and 3 Associated Ph.D. students assembled for their first joint workshop and 3 day planning meeting at University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

The workshop was centered around presentations and discussions to frame more concretely the terms of the common research projects, and engagement with local researchers who are working on related themes as well as hearing their responses to the project's work.

The goal for the workshop was an enhanced common understanding of the key concepts that the participating researchers engage. Fieldworks that are already underway in 2013 were discussed.

In addition the researchers discussed the planning and method of a Charette in 2014 on the memory of the domestic terror attack in Norway in 2011. The Charette was planned to be conducted in Oslo in summer 2014 by several of the project's members, but is rescheduled for fall 2014. A last session of the workshop assembled researchers in the groups that will prepare the three different volumes to come out of the collaboration. Further outcomes of the workshop consisted in planning out the remainder of the grant period and calendar workshops and conferences throughout 2016.
