In this article, Hugo Lundhaug looks at the Coptic Hagiographical text the Life of Aphou of Pemdje and discusses its value as a historical source in light of "New Philology." The article also treats the question of the image of God in man in the anthropomorphite controversy at the turn of the Fifth Century and its treatment in the Life of Aphou of Pemdje.
