Biography, Gender and Protestantism

On May 12th to 13th, the GOBA project hosts a seminar on the concepts of gender and Protestantism in the biography genre.

The workshop is convened as part of GOBA Subproject II - Formatting Religion Beyond the State, and will explore the construal of religion as a benign or suspect force in modern biographies. Featuring a broad selection of scholars and biographers, the workshop will address the recent increase in academic biographical writing, with a particular emphasis on biographies chronicling the lives of women in the early 20th century, in times of change and transition from a gender discourse predominantly pre-secular ro one much more defined by secularism.
