Postdoctoral position on Coptic Apocrypha and Their Related Practices

We are excited to announce that applications are open for our second postdoctoral position. The position will focus on practices (e.g. liturgical, ritual, etc) associated with and described in Coptic apocryphal works and the manuscripts which contain them.

We are seeking a scholar who will study the practices associated with, or described in, apocryphal works preserved in Coptic manuscripts. This includes liturgical and paraliturgical practices and contexts, as well as discussions of, and associations with, ascetic, or “magical” practices. These may be related to the contents of the apocryphal works themselves, or with the production and use of the manuscripts. The postdoc is expected to complete a monograph that deals with any or all of these aspects on the basis of the submitted project proposal, which will be further developed in collaboration with the PI of the APOCRYPHA project (Professor Hugo Lundhaug).

The application deadline is March 1.
