1:15-1:30 summarizing remarks (Diana Edelman)

Presenters should plan for no more than a 20-minute powerpoint talk . You are to give your thesis topic, a little about the background of the past investigation and why this question is of interest to you, the methods you will use, and the general plan of investigation (what chapters are foreseen to be necessary in order to tackle the research question). You should then provide some information about research that has been conducted at a deeper level. You should dress professionally and treat this as a serious, professional presentation. You will field questions from the audience for 10 minutes afterwards and need to provide some sort of response to everything asked, even if it is to say that you hope to investigate that further in the future.

What is being asked to be included is what is expected to have been produced in written form already in the first year of PhD work as part of the 10-point PhD basic course, so this should not be a huge burden.

Supervisors and fellow seminar members are invited to give constructive feedback on all the presentations to maximise the learning potential of and experience from the seminar.
