Mowinckel Seminar 2023: “Taste and see how good JHWH is” (Ps 34:9). From Reception Aesthetics to Po/et(h)ics

The wordplay Po/et(h)ics captures the interrelatedness of ethics and aesthetics. Dorothea Erbele-Küster shall explain this concept along the lines of Psalm 34 by emphasizing the role sensory perceptions and emotions play in the text and in the reception process.

Dorothea Erbele-Küster is Extraordinary Professor (außerordentlichen Professorin) and senior scholar in Biblical Literature, Gender, and Diversity at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. She has held teaching positions in several European countries, including Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. She is co-chairing the section Meals in the Hebrew Bible and its Ancient Near Eastern context at SBL International and co-editor of a new series, Theologische Interventionen, published by Kohlhammer.
