Academic interests
My primary academic interests are Church history and practical theology. I work with Christianity in late antique Greco-Roman culture and society, with the Christianisation of the Roman Empire and with homiletics, rhetoric and communication. The theme for my PhD-project is the function and role of Christian preaching in a larger historical and societal perspective. I focus on the Church father Gregory of Nazianzus (329-390) and his sermons/orations, and I am especially interested in meaning-making, the shaping of culture and worldview and in homiletical strategies.
